u-lign is a stand-alone manual or semi-automatic vision system that allows a typical operator to create and repeat a given alignment task within minutes. The basic system uses two cameras to provide a live image that is compared onscreen with stored images. The stored images are created during the set-up of the machine and provide a visual indication of the proper alignment. Alignment Display Options The u-lign system can be trained using a number of display methods, such as the traditional cross hairs, ellipses, automatic boundary tracking to display the outline of a feature or a full screen image overlay show in translucent colors. The overlay allows you to view the part to be aligned through the taught image. Alignment is accomplished by moving the part to coincide with the overlay image. Automatic Measurement of Alignment Error Using the optional autoscan feature provides a dynamic measurement of the misalignment in X and Y and can signal the mechanism through digital I/O that the part is not ready for the next operation until the tolerances are met. The tolerances are part of the overall vision recipe, programmed in user selected units for acceptable X and Y offsets. During operation, the u-lign system continuously measures the taught location against the live image. The results are displayed on screen with out-of-tolerance distances shown in against a Red background. A proper alignment is displayed against a Green background. Once the alignment is within pre-set tolerances, the digital I/O now releases the machine to complete the next operation. This inhibit ensures that all product produced meets the alignment requirements of the process. |
